If Moss isn't picked up by 4 pm ET today, he becomes a UFA. He'll probably go back to the Patriots.

Em, nope he only keeps the Vikes $$$ if he's not picked up off the waiver wire, then he becomes a UFA and what ever team that takes him picks up his salary.

I was responding to LadyHawks comment about his becoming a free agent, which it looks like he will. So he will get to keep the money. A team can then pay him the minimum, but he will have the Vikings guaranteed money.

If any team claims Moss, it would be responsible for the remainder of Moss' 2010 salary -- approximately $3.4 million. If no team claims Moss, the Vikings would pay that remaining money and Moss would be free to sign with any team.

em, that's what I posted at 8:10am this morning. You're correct. Top teams in the running per NFL.com are
Fins
Skins
Rams
Seahawks

ME - Well I've been thinking, I really want to change it up. Can I get a Randy Moss?

I read that the owner of the Vikings was angry about the way that Moss was let go, without Childress consulting anybody. If it was my money and draft choice, I'd probably be unhappy, too.

LOL, there's not much doubt who went to the better team. Jeff Fisher runs a tight ship and Moss is the one who will have to adjust. Fisher's players believe in him and will support him against anybody.

I think that even somebody as self-absorbed as Randy Moss might have learned a lesson from that incident.

By the way, the clinical definition of self-absorbed is:

does things primarily for the benefit of themself, puts their feelings first, can't do anything when they don't feel good, swayed by their emotions, more concerned with themself than others, prefers personal glory over team victories, pleasure seeker, uses their looks to get what they want, gets angry when they don't get what they want, dramatizes their suffering, wealth seeking, superficial, manipulative, narcissistic

It fits him, doesn't it?

It is surprising to me how many athletes and celebrities fit that definition. It seems that talent and emotional maturity don't go together.

I hated getting drafted into the Army, but I saw it do some people a lot of good. There were guys who, for the first time in their lives, learned that there were things that they were going to have to do whether they wanted to or not. If they didn't get up when they were told, their bed was turned over with them in it and then they were put to cleaning grease traps from the inside. Some couldn't accept it and they ran off. After they got out of military prison they got to start over and the time didn't count on their enlistments. I saw a lot of people grow up.

RIP Andy Irons 1978-2010, you will be missed. I know this is a football board but none of the sports media reported his death - which is absolutely absurd in my opinion. All we heard about is Randy Moss the diva, nothing about one of the finest surfers ever to ride the ocean... There are always perfect waves in Heaven. RIP Andy!

Vikings - a Hot Mess or just a Mess?

Postby LadyHawk » Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:28 am

(AP) Combined with the struggles of a preseason Super Bowl favorite, the public opinion toward Childress is overwhelmingly negative in the Twin Cities following the Moss release. That could very well play a role in Childress’ job security, as the franchise likely will soon be seeking voter support for funding for a new stadium. Childress is under contract through 2013 after being awarded an extension during the 2009 season.

LH - the fact that he did not inform Zigy Wilf of his intention to release Moss will not help his job security. My guess is that they'll buy out his contract and tell him to GFY for causing the locker room to fall apart...as a side note Percy Harvin was said to be livid when told of Moss' release.

GOOD MORNING SWITZERLAND, and thank you 16 for this post. I get the chills I watching him maneuver waves... I surfed some when I was young (most everyone does in Florida, believe it or not)--and I continue to watch surfing on sports' shows whenever I can. He is a guru, and I can't believe that he would let drugs dull his spirit. None of the surfers I knew took drugs--they got their buzz from the waves...

Morning CK, we won't really know until the autopsy comes back. He was one of the true greats among a handful of his peers of any surfing era. I grew up surfing everyday in Nor-Cal and have been blessed to be able to surf all wave sizes and shapes all over the world having worked for a cruise line in SF for 11 years. Surfing is a better rush than any drug.

I never followed surfing at all, although I would rank it in interest well above baseball. I simply could never develop an interest in any sport except football. I played football and basketball in school, but I lost interest in basketball because it became such a prima donna sport. During football season I follow high school football (which is THE sport in Texas), college football and pro football. My second favorite sport is spring training. During the long off season I actually get things done.
