Hey yall. Sorry for dissapearing. The company treated everyone to dinner by having fajitas and such catered in to the entire second shift. Then they handed out prizes and such for Associate Recognition Day, and I won a paid day off. :) :D YAAAYY!!!! So while I was distracted for an hour or so, it did turn out to be very pleasant. <3 All you guys.

I could see Cowher coaching one of the teams on the coast, as in the Dolphins or the 9ers. Both being storied franchises, having dream weather, and they are both run oriented teams with great pieces in place, his preferred defense (some 3/4's do differ a bit from each other). But, hopefully he is in love with either situation to return to coaching. I for one would love to have him come back somewhere! Because great coaching is getting sort of "THIN" these days, for lack of a better word. The better coaches we have means the better product that they can provide for us all. A WIN-Win situation. I'd even love it if Jimmy Johnson would return to the cowboys. I could do without the hair, but he and the Cowboys just feels like a proper fit, and we all know that he can get the job done even working under the Plastic Man.

I have it on high authority that he wants to come to the Dolphins!

I always enjoyed watching Cowher "coaching" players on the sidelines. He treated it like training a puppy - you show your approval or disapproval while it remembers the behavior you're reacting to.

I'm just old enough to remember when Lombardi was coaching the Packers. He demanded everything that his players had, just like Tom Landry. I didn't learn until later that they were coordinators for the Giants at the same time - Lombardi was offensive coordinator and Landry was defensive coordinator. That was before my time, but back then the contest was between the Giants and the Baltimore Colts of Johnny Unitas.

Today, two of Houston's teams are playing each other - the University of Houston and Rice University. Rice won last year, so I suppose it's Houston's turn this year. Our stars have graduated. It's also a Conference USA game.

I wasn't that surprised at Ohio State losing. What did surprise me was how badly they were beaten. They just got manhandled.

On a much lesser scale, my Rice Owls came back to beat Reecey's Houston Cougars in the battle of Houston. It was also a conference win.

PAO! It's great to see you. My Texans still have no defense at all. Fortunately, they can score a lot of points. They really had me worried in this one, but two touchdowns in three minutes will win a lot of games.

It looks like this is going to be a season without a dominant team. If I remember correctly, it is unusual for there to be no undefeated teams so early in the season.

Still, a couple of injuries could sink their ship. If the Texans lost Matt Schaub, I doubt if they would win another game.

LOL.. Is Kirk Herbstreet a Seahawks fan? It's his quote...I'm just sharing it cuz I thought it was a rather humorous analogy.

GOOD MORNING SWITZERLAND. I'm running out for the day, but just wanted to say a quick hello to my Swiss Family...

BTW, I don't know how rich the latest owner of the Dolphins is, but what difference does it make when he spends all his money on movie star power, knows nothing about football, and turns the stadium (or should I say "the laughing stock" of the NFL) into a testimony to Romero Brito (an artist who whose work is done in primary colors)? It's so embarrassing! They've taken away our Dolphin song and given us a silly little Key Westy songy saying "Fins to the left, fins to the right--it's the only game in town." Incredible. :x

Okay--sorry about that rant (brought to you by my growing dislike for Stephen Ross and his star-studded cast of characters--that come into the stadium via the "orange carpet" ceremonial). Oh-oh  ,I'd better stop now or I'll never get down to South Miami for my appointment :( . Later :D

This morning on ESPN Trent Dilfer, et al. had an interesting viewpoint on the NFL wanting to make it "safer" for the players. He and the other "talking heads" said we all need to remember that NO ONE is forcing these guys to play football for the NFL. They do it voluntarily and are paid well for it. If they don't want to get hit, then they have no business being in the NFL. Dilfer (a former NFL QB) doesn't like that the NFL wants to change the game more to make it safer. Let 'em play ball and hit - that's all part of the game.

Interesting perspective.

Obviously it's the perspective of somebody who didn't suffer a lot of concussions. I think that all would agree that things like kicking and stomping shouldn't be allowed, so the line must be drawn somewhere. Football is a violent game, but it shouldn't become a gladiatorial contest. I learned even playing high school football that it is possible to play great football within the rules. The egregious penalties are usually committed in compensation by the inferior team. The better team doesn't need to cheat to win.

It was Dilfer's perspective (yeah...Dilfer) and I can't remember the name of the other analyst (not sure he ever even played). I think ~ in essence ~ they don't want to see the NFL turn it from tackle football into flag football. But they do have a point.

Houston has a critical need to pick up a linebacker to fill in for Ryans, who's out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Nothing 49ers related, there have already obviously been some big moves - ie Moss and Branch. I hear rumors of the Cowboys moving Barber to the Packers. Logan Mankins may be shipped from the Pats...Jackson may be dealt by the Chargers...just a few of the whispers out there.

Well Sunday showed me that the Hawks' acquistion of Marshawn Lynch was a good one. The combination of he and Justin Forsett in our backfield? What a GREAT running game. And Russell Okung (LT) did his job quietly and effectively ~ shutting down Julius Peppers. A great team effort

It looks like the Seahawks are making a lot of good moves, but I still think that the best one was hiring Pete Carroll.
