Morning everyone...just about time!
So here's Denver's starting lineup today best I can figure:
OL - Clady-Smith-Ramirez-Vasquez-Schofield
QB/RB - Manning, Anderson
WR/TE - D. Thomas, C. Latimer, E. Sanders, Green
DL - Wolfe-Williams-Jackson
LB - Ware-Trevethan-Davis-Miller
DB - Talib-Roby-Ward-Harris
Players I see as needing to be replaced - Center - Ramirez; ILB - Davis
Players with something to prove - WR - Latimer; TE - Green; OG - Smith; OT - Schofield; NT - Williams; FS - Roby (he's a solid CB, not sure how he'll transition)
Players on the bench that can contribute - RB - Ball, Thompson, Hillman; TE - Casey; DL - Walker, Smith, Austin; OLB - Anunike, McCray; ILB - Marshall; DB - Stewart, Bruton
The way I see it, Denver is a strong team without a ton of reliable depth at this point. If you look at the roster DE may be the weakest link. Wolfe and Jackson are projected to start and Smith and Walker are very capable rotation players, but then that's it. They have Anunike listed at DE, but that has to be a mistake...he's 260...he'll need to be an OLB to contribute at all...which I think he will with his pass rush skills. With Wolfe's health and Smith's age, Denver only has Jackson and Walker at DE. That's concerning to me all of a sudden. I do like Williams and Austin at NT...I really think they are going to thrive in Phillips' defense. Nothing after Austin on the depth chart though.
LB is better, with the SILB the weak link here with Davis as the guy I penciled in. I like Ware and Miller on the outside and have some confidence in Anunike and McCray to back them up. The concern is that both Anunike and McCray have battled injuries throughout their short careers.
DB is rock solid in my eyes...especially if Roby can play FS like Elway thinks he can. Talib and Harris are as good as they come and Ward is a stud at the SS position. Solid depth with Stewart, Bolden, Bruton, Webster, and Roby able to play NB.
Offensively is a little more straight forward. I think Denver is set at QB with Manning now and either Osweiler or Dysert waiting in the wings to take over. Both guys fit Kubiak's system (in my opinion). At RB, Denver is absolutely set with Anderson, Ball, Hillman, and Thompson. Along the OL, Denver is young and has good depth with Clark, Cornick, Gradkowski, and Paradis. The starting Center and LG are in question, but there are capable depth players on the roster. TE has some promise behind Green with Duncan...I'm actually really looking forward to what that kid can do. WR is the only area where Denver has some unknowns. Latimer needs to step up, but I think he does this season. The only other guy I like is Fowler. There are capable backups in Caldwell and Palmer.
So all in all, Denver NEEDS help at OG/C and SILB, but then needs competition/backups along the DL (specifically at DE) and LB positions. I would be ok with a defensive heavy draft with one (maybe two) offensive linemen selected.
