Good to be here Springs...I agree wholeheartedly Jarhead...not sure if I'll post that much Icky...we'll see!

Denver is in as good a shape as they've been in year to year. It takes developing the players on the roster, but consider the following:

The defense returns 9 of 11 starters. Yes, Malik Jackson and Danny Trevethan were very instrumental to Denver's defensive success, but they are replaceable. I think you'll see a continued emphasis on defense during the draft to compete for those spots, but Denver is not in bad shape defensively.

Offensively, Denver still has DT and Sanders on the outside and a renewed emphasis on the running game. I know people want a RB in the draft, but I say no to that. Kubiak will take Anderson, Thompson, or even Bibbs and make them into the RB this system needs. All you need to do is look at last year's RB production when Manning was sidelined to see how effective Kubiak's system is when he has a QB that can run it. There are some questions up front, but I think adding Stephenson with Sambrailo and a restructured Clady is solid. Paradis and Garcia improved as well, so that's a good overall outlook for Denver's offensive line in my opinion.

Moving to the draft, I'd look at Adolphus Washington (DL - Ohio State) or Kenny Clark (DL - UCLA) at the end of the first round. Either guy would compliment Wolfe in my opinion. Denver could also go with Cody Whitehair (OG - K-State) or Germain Ifedi (OT/G - Texas A&M) there too. In the second, I think it's Dak Prescott (QB - Mississippi State) unless a deal for Kaepernick goes down. In the 3rd, I like Kentrell Brothers from Missouri. Not a great combine, but he has game speed and production that can't be denied.

I don't follow the draft too much or spend time thinking about who we will take based on the holes in the roster. Elway usually takes the best available player regardless of position. Now he may move up to do that in cases like Ray last year, but I don't see him drafting for need as we are pretty deep and FA is long from over. I also don't know that we move up in the first round, it will take a lot of picks to do any significant moving from where we sit. Elway also seems content to play Sanchez as this point. It doesn't sound like he will be trade bait.

Haha Yi...no apology necessary! Jones is a specimen with all the physical tools needed for the job. His mental makeup is my biggest concern. I've got a buddy that is a huge Ohio State fan. He has an absolute love/hate thing going for Jones. Makes plays nobody else can, then pees down his leg.

I'm not an expert on what to look for in a QB, but the mental part would be pretty critical for me. The reports about Prescott (DUI notwithstanding) say he's a natural leader with a very good understanding of the game. Add that to his physical tools and he could be the real deal.

As always, I'm trusting Elway/Kubiak to make the right decisions about personnel...specifically the QB position. I like the prospect of a vet like Sanchez running the show for a year or two while drafting and developing the future QB.

They want Clady but for less than half of what he would have made. Not sure I would be ok with that myself. Paycut yes but half noway. We can just say good bye to Clady. 1.2 million in dead money and the cost of replacing him with another Tackle. We have paid 5 million to Stephenson if he takes the spot. Not sure what Okung will ask for he's not that bright, He is his own agent so they may be able to take advantage. Mathis signs a one year 6 million deal with the Cardinals

Spot on about the QB. Just need to get some kind of consistent, even mediocre play to be right back in it

Okung? Not sure what I think of that. I've never thought that he was that good in Seattle.

Denver low balled CJ before they ended up matching Miami's offer. Clady hasn't stayed healthy for a season since he got his big payday so maybe half of his salary isn't that absurd. In the end I bet they meet in the middle. Julius Thomas was also awesome the 2-3 games he plays a year but unfortunately the season is 16 games. Ask the Jags how that worked out for them last year. We need players who play the whole season instead of incredible players who play less than half of it. My guess is we'll keep Clady but with a 3 million a year pay cut.

Sorry but this is BS. Jackson saying he moved to the Jaguars because he had to take care of his daughter and put his family first. It was sheer greed and nothing else. I take care of my family for a minuscule fraction of what he made coming into the league, much less now that he has a new contract. It can be done. Millions of Americans do it every year. But people praise him for being honest about the situation when he really isn't.

Not Bronco or even football releated but this is funny.

Ben seems like a smart guy and is taking every advantage in this opportunity  he's playing them both, "sympathizing" with their need to remain close to one another.

Not sure I understand the thinking of signing a Left tackle that is injury Prone (Okung) for 10 million a year and asking Clady who would have been paid 10 million this season but was asked to take a paycut of half or more and wouldn't do it. Clady would have taken a paycut if the Broncos would have asked for say 3 million. they would have saved themselves 3 million. If you look at this signing I can't see how anyone can see it as a great deal. Sorry Elway you are doing terrible job this off season IMO. I'll be sounding like Deeds next so I'm done

Good evening Broncs brethren.

Hope all are well and life is being good for youse guys. Great pick up with Okung IMO. I liked him years ago and when I thought we might mishandle Penn's FA deal hoped he was in the mix. All worked out as it should.

Side note here, wth is up with the server?I had a heck of time just getting in any of the pages or even to the forum itself? Maybe I need to work on my browser?

All the best, always.

Peace !

Hops, pardon me for sticking nose in biz. But I was looking at the possibility of us needing a LT (if someone had been dumb enough to let Penn walk, they weren't thank goodness) and saw Clady maybe becoming available. My complete take was let Penn walk if he wants a fortune, Okung was the only other one out there at the time and in desperation I wanted him if they did nothing with Penn. But Clady? let them both walk and keep walking, sign Clady and forget about it. I do understand your thoughts because I think overall he is the best bet, and seemed to return from the knee rock solid? Oh well, the management does what it wants and we just keep on hanging tough.

Take care.
Peace !

Morning Joe. Must be an issue on your end. You mentioned missing pics on the Seahawks page. I still see all the pics you posted on the Raider page. Think you might be confused about which page you were on. Anyhoo... Good to see you.

** This is because the "Game Manager" Alex Smith cannot do it, only a sure fire 1st ballot HOF 2 time Super Bowl winning QB could've thought of it.

The Chiefs need to get some cheese to go with their "whine". And probably rust remover for that ONE terribly old Lombardi trophy.

He turned into j. Thomas since he got his money. A knee injury is bad luck but all the shoulder injuries before that hint at a deeper problem. Okung has a bad history of injuries too but with Denver able to cut him in year two after the guaranteed salary is a very modifying factor.
