Winston #1 and Mariota #2....no trades yet. I had a feeling all the hype was just that....hype.

Cannot believe how badly the Chiefs have drafted in the first round these last couple of years. I'm so happy Dorsey is running that ship!

On another note, congrats on VETERAN status Utah!

Please no TJ Clemmings...if an OT, Fisher or Humphries are the only acceptable choices at this juncture.

How about Perriman?? LOL!

I agree with you Hoppy...solid pick up. I would have rather had Bud Dupree, but Ray can get the job done. Would have been a top 10 pick easy if not for a boneheaded move Monday.

Steal according to the value chart, plus shedding $3 mil for a player that may have been cut/sat on bench. Why's hop always get rid of his thorns yet Tony Carter's still here?

Morning Ute!!! I drank to your promotion to Veteran last night! I think that may be the one that put me under the table   , but it was great to see you finally get to Veteran--although I was so sure you'd been a Veteran forever. It's official now, though--and I'm so happy you made it!

The guys on Sirius 88 know more about what's going on than they let on. I mean inside info not just from their experience. They keep it close to the vest but drop some clues if you listen to the right guys at the right time. They were talking about this depth behind Ware/Miller more recently.

Well you got your man Hop...I know when I asked you about him on Fox...you told me to stay away from him...LOL

Don't know why you pick him, when you get rid of a guy because of alcohol problems....failed tests are failed tests...hopefully he can get it under control, because he clearly has what it takes to play in this league. Good Luck in day 2 Broncos.

WOW !!! Shocked, but I really like the kid.I don't think it was too high of a price to pay for a player rated that high. That odor in the air smells a lot more like Rivers, Carr, and Smith crapping their pants than skunk. Here is John and Gary on the pick

He's never failed a test. Just got busted with weed on him. It's a possession charge but no DWI/DUI charge. It will be step one on the substance program.

As far as Prater, there was more behind the scenes that we don't know about that got him cut.

Looks like Hop might be correct when he said the Titans would draft Mariota and then trade him.

Here's my take on Shane Ray...Mayock's #2 edge rusher, a phenomenal athlete and play maker. 4.65 speed off the edge with a relentless motor. If it's not for Monday, he's likely an Atlanta Falcon today.

Denver gives up two fifth round picks to move up to get him plus Manny Ramirez. I don't see the problem with this either. Denver legitimately has too many draft picks and their roster is already pretty full with 73 guys right now. Not sure how many guys you take to camp, but the final roster is 53...20 less than what Denver has on the roster today, not counting the 10 Denver would have drafted plus any UDFAs they add after the fact.

In truth, you see a guy you want, you go get him. Ray is a stud pass rusher and will play opposite of Von Miller once Ware calls it a career. I fully expect Phillips to figure out a way to have all three on the field at once as well, so that will be fun to watch!

As for the weed jokes, that was bound to happen. That's fine. Roby had some off-the-field stuff before last year...how did that turn out? I trust Elway on this and know the leadership from Ware and Manning will be tremendously helpful.

Lastly, Manny Ramirez. Denver dumps salary and an older OL that doesn't really fit the scheme. I think we as football fans get caught up in the player over the person a lot of times...I know I do. I want to say that Ramirez was a professional while he was in Denver and is a fantastic human being. I don't think he was the answer at Center or LG for Denver, but that should not detract from who the man is. For that, he will be missed.

Well damn! If I knew we were going to trade up, I might have been able to stay up. The pick is a great pick. He's top 10 talent that made a mistake. As long as he doesn't turn out like Maurice Clarett I'm fine with the selection. Its a gamble and it might pay off with big benefits.

This has been 2 years coming and T. Carter wasn't getting Peyton hit He may not make the team this season bet Carter is a good practice player makes plays in practice all day doesn't show bad film. I'm just guessing but there has to be a reason maybe one of the younger DB's kicks him to the curb

Kevin Patra - NFL Network wrote:If Shane Ray translates the passion and fire he displayed during his media sessions Thursday night onto the field, the Denver Broncos will be plenty happy with their first-round pick.

For the second consecutive day in Chicago, Ray faced the media following his Monday citation for marijuana possession. The Missouri product reiterated that he knows he made a mistake and told Broncos executive vice president John Elway it won't happen again.

"I guaranteed Mr. Elway that I will not have any issues," Ray told a swarm of reporters. "As I said before, I'm not a person who has character issues at all."

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that due to his citation, Ray will begin his NFL career in the league's substance abuse program. He will be tested frequently for two years, per league sources.

On Thursday the fired-up Ray said it meant "even more" that the Broncos were willing to trade up in order to target him. The defensive end said he plans to repay Denver by helping "dominate everybody we play."

Slated as a top-10 pick prior to his incident, Ray was incensed that some teams passed on him because of one "mistake."

"I will let all those teams know they made the hugest mistake of this draft,
" he said.

The 21-year-old conceded that the timing of his misstep was problematic, adding the past week has helped him grow as a person. But Ray was dismissive about people snickering any 'marijuana is legal in Colorado' jokes.

"Just because I was cited for marijuana possession doesn't mean I'm this huge smoker or some huge drug addict," Ray said. "If anybody looks at the police report, they'll understand I wasn't even under the influence. I haven't had any marijuana issues in my career. ... That's not a concern for me at all."

What is a concern for Ray is paying back all the teams who felt like he wasn't worth the risk.

"This does nothing but add fuel to my fire," he said. "I hope those teams understand that this is the kind of person I am. I will use this is as motivation. And I hope that I see every one of those teams. ... Oh yeah, (those teams that passed on me) they're all circled, best believe. Mentally, each team that passed me is circled."

Now it's time for Ray to walk the walk.

Yeah...I'm even more excited about this kid now. He's going to be able to take his time acclimating to the league learning behind one of the best. I know Phillips will get him in the mix and that will help keep Wade fresh during the season too. Good all around for Denver!
