http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/09/16/left-tackle-value

Interesting read...I think he has a point that the NFL has overshot the mark in the value bestowed on LTs...while they may be more important than any other single player on the line, the way Denver has performed with/without Clady has opened my eyes to the idea that the actual difference in value is marginal. Maybe it's more important to invest in solid overall line talent and depth, rather than devote such a large cap hit to one link in a chain. Truth be told, I wouldn't bat an eye if Clady is cut this off-season. I think Elway has proven that he can find moderately priced vets/rookies to plug the holes, and then use the savings to boost other positions of need.

What do you fellas think?

I agree for the most part. The position is being coached a lot differently than it was when Tackles were first valued so high as blind side protectors. There is more of an abundance of that skill set coming out now than there used to be.

Yeah...the spread passing game popular in college has developed a lot of skilled pass-blockers. I also think DCs are becoming more comfortable with generating the pass rush in other ways besides the standard "collapse the interior and push in from the edge." Those A-gap blitzes can be brutally effective.

the 06 colts had a fast no huddle offense with a soon to be HOF QB under center. Didn't hold the ball long.2012 Ravens Team of destiny played their hearts out for Ray Ray. had a great defense.2013 Hawks Great defense and a QB who could run. An 14 Patriots read 06 Colts. These teams didn't need that great LT even though those QB's will say that the guy who protected their blind side was the guy on the line they trusted. The QB has to help his LT Get the ball out on time ect...... When the Broncos drafted Ty they did it with Clady in mind for next season just as The rookie this year has a year or 2 to show just cause For not signing Miller to the 100 million contract he will be looking for. They can Trade Clady next season freeing up cap Manning will be gone. Brock will be signing a new contract so will others but back on Ty will be the highest paid lineman on this team come his next contract because you have to protect the blind side. The writer has some points but way off facts.

Think about the teams that manning has played in the last 6 games, including the psotseason. Most of them have been good teams where as the other 48 is a more even mix of good and bad teams. This doesn't really show you that much.

I'll go Chargers good team not a playoff team
chiefs same
Bills Not a good team
Bengals made the playoffs but not a good team
Colts good team
Raiders
I don't see where you see a great team . But he did hand the ball off more because that's when the team started using 3 tackles on the line to run the ball.

Thanks Icky.

All in my FFL....check your scoring as apparently Yahoo made a mistake last week affecting final scoring in a game. There's no way I can check them all with my schedule but it would behoove everyone to check their own scores to make sure they are correct.

Turns out the mistake I thought I found wasn't one. I didn't know that defensive scores don't count towards the point total a team gives up. I thought Baltimore D had given up 19 points. They were credited as only giving up 13 points because Denver D got a pick six. I do like that rule. However, there were adjustments made to the Pitt-NE game, because Yahoo scored it wrong and someone caught it and reported it. So, it does pay off to double check your scores.

Q Smith had a workout with the NYJ who are trying to replace their outside rush. The rookie from Louisville Lorenzo Mauldin was carted off the field Sunday with a head injury. Concussion was what was said he has but the team doesn't know when he will be able to come back.

As a general rule, I find Thursday games to be underwhelming, but getting two Broncos games in 5 days makes me feel like a junkie finding a twenty dollar bill on the ground!
Here is my to do list for Denver:
-Who wouldn't love to see Von's first sack of the season come against Alice Smith?
-Mathis needs to have a MUCH improved game in blitz pickup and run-blocking.
-Can a TE make a dang play?
-Let's run up the score so Latimer can come in and get some much needed game reps
-I need to see at least one deep ball that's caught in-stride, Manning!
-Can't wait to see how Phillips uses Ward in this swarming defense.
-Stay disciplined on those Charles screens!
-LET THE CHIEFS KNOW WHOSE STILL RUNS THIS MUTHAFOXER!

I hate to say it, but I either want Manning to show he's still got it, or flame out completely and get replaced. The scariest possibility is that he continues to play just mediocre enough that his HOF status and fan loyalty make it hard to Kubes to bench him. That's the only thing that could truly waste this defense. Get it together, or get out of the way!

77% of the national writers have KC winning this one http://nflpickwatch.com/
Taking off my blue and orange colored lenses, I still have a hard time finding a way for KC to win (other than the random turnover fest that plagues every team on occasion).

Even if I spot the Chiefs 4 points for a home game, I don't see the rest of the offense scoring much more than 10 additional points off our D...unless Denver's offense is exactly where it started last Sunday, I don't see Denver scoring LESS than 16 points...and that last drive where they finally went full West-Coast Offense gives me some optimism that Denver's O will be at least competent tonight.

I might be more concerned if Poe and Berry were totally healthy, but they both played limited snaps 5 days ago and had minimal impacts.

I think both teams with cough up the ball twice, but Denver will have a slight advance on O and a significant advantage on D...my prediction is:
17-9, Denver
