Why wait? We could give OZ 2 weeks to work in the first team offense. That would be much better than 1 week. This team should be able to handle the browns with OZ under center.
Two reasons: #1 defenses win championships, but first years starters don't...even when they have #1 defenses (Big Ben, Russ Wilson)
I'd like to avoid making a move that probably takes us out of SB contention, unless it becomes clear that Manning and the offense are truly finished and incapable of improving. I'd rather not make the change next week either, but if it's going to happen, I'd like it to happen after a bye.
You keep bringing up Big Ben and Russell Wilson My question is what happened in their second seasons. That answer will be why you put him (Brock) in this season. We can not get to the Bowl with Manning. He is done. Now is the future . Let brock build some confidence with this defense winning games or next season we will be rebuilding and at the bottom of the division. The Manning experiment has failed. We didn't or will we ever win a Super bowl with him. But you know I'll be rooting for him as long as he wears the orange and blue. If you wait for next season with Brock you will not have all the same men on your defense and we may not be as good defensively. We may find that Brock isn't the one to carry us there and next season won't have to pay him. He is up for a contract next season. You have to believe they will take a look at him some time this season. Just have Manning call a presser and announce he wants to step down for the better of the team that way it's his decision and the whole world will be ok with that. At least Hop will
I'm not at all confident that we will be able to bring back this D at the same level next year...Von Miller, Derek Wolfe, Trevathan, Malik Jackson, Antonio Smith, David Bruton, Brandon Marshall (RFA), and Bolden are all Free Agents after this season. Even with Manning's contract to play with, that is a lot of raises to hand out. Not to mention that we still have to re-sign or replace Mathis, Harris, Hillman, C.J., Norword, Fowler, McManus, and Paradis (those last three are Ex. Rights FAs). It just doesn't make sense to me to play for next year when you are 5-0 and have the #1 defense. If I'm the coach, I'm not making a QB switch unless I'm DAMN sure that Manning and the offense cannot win a ring at the current level of performance AND have zero shot to improve. If he does make the switch and Oz fails even worse, the fans will call for Kube's head on a pike.
