one has 8 letters...the other has 4...

envious is okay...jealousy isnt...

envious is being happy about someone elses good fortune...and wishing some of it would rub off on yourself...

jealousy is a negative attribute usually reserved for the insecure...

Wrong and wrong, dred!

Jealousy is wishing you had something like someone else has.

Envy is wishing you had something of someone else's AND wishing they did NOT have it.

Clearly "envy" is worse than "jealousy." :P

Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as anger, sadness, and disgust. It is not to be confused with envy.

Envy (also called invidiousness) is best defined as an emotion that "occurs when a person lacks another's (perceived) superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it."

The Church would say that the difference is between mortal (envy) and venial (jelousy) sins.

The two teams that I root for don't play until 6 pm CDT. I'll watch the Texas vs Wyoming game, since it's the one that will be televised.

Tomorrow's game is going to be critical for the Texans. Maybe the Super Bowl losers jinx will work for us. Sorry, Baglady, but I have to root for my team, too.

It looks like it wasn't a good day for any of the Florida schools. FSU got embarrassed by Oklahoma and Miami lost, too.

I didn't see any of the game, but the score was certainly impressive. How good is South Florida?

I know, I know. I wonder when it's time to admit that Jakory isn't the answer to finding an old-time U QB? I was ready last year. Randy was just off being a player and was a low-level coach when I worked at The U. I really wanted to see him succeed, but I'm wondering about about that now too... (Big, big Sigh)

Whoo Boy! The Rice Owls just barely squeaked out a win over the North Texas Mean Green.

So what was Jacori's story yesterday? I had hoped he would be seasoned by now and making a real kick-ass showing as a QB, but no, I don't believe he gets it yet, and I don't think The U and/or Randy can afford to give him any more time to mature. I'm not sure about his back-ups though, which is sad, because if the recruiting was up to the old standards (pre the problems of the last few years), then he should have someone behind him ready to step-up and do what needs to be done. Maybe there is someone? I was very disappointed in yesterday's showing, that's for damn sure.

Sorry, I forgot to wish everyone the best of luck today (not Buffalo fans, of course, hee hee), but to all my Swiss Family friends--wins all around for each of you today!!!!

It was easy to tell that Colt McCoy was gone from Texas. The offense looked confused and off-rhythm all game.

I’m looking at sports sites that are touting “Games of the Weekend” … Typical. Not a single Seahawks-49ers reference. Always all about the Patriots/Packers/Cowboys/Steelers/Colts.

We put a huge and surprising ass whooping on the 49ers and the "powers that be" couldn't care less. But they've gotta gab LOUDLY about the freaking Cowboys little loss to the Redskins?

I've noticed the same, LadyHawk. The sportswriters and TV talking heads make their picks before the season starts and those teams get all of the attention. The Seahawks moved into the driver's seat in their division and nobody said anything about it. I was glad to see Cincinnati lose, because they were another of the pet teams. The Jets are another and I'd be delighted if the Ravens beat them. I'm not sure what you have to do to get in the clique.

It truly doesn't matter what we do, Emeritus. The NFC West is one of - if not THE - weakest division in the NFL. Nobody pays attention to it. Ever.

It only take one strong team to make lots of noise if they do it in the playoffs. I wasn't surprised that the Seahawks won, but I was shocked at how throughly they did it. I thought that the Niners were a coming team, but they got embarrassed. I wonder what Sing said to them after the game?

Even after our SuperBowl run, the media dropped us like a bad habit...they just don't "adore" the Seahawks like they do the Steelers/Patriots/Packers/Colts, et al.

Did anyone happen to catch the Philly/Packers game? OMG! I don't think I have ever seen a more violent game in my life. It went so quickly, guys flying around, getting dropped and leaving the field injured. Both teams are known for their violence (although Philly has it all over the Pack in the violence quotient IMO). It was the only game on at the time or I would have changed the channel. I have a big problem with Philly. Their fans are probably the most obnoxious EVER, and when they are in our stadium, there are even more fights than in the JETS games!

I think East Coast fans are just intense and don't control their emotions very well. There are never fights at Seahawks games...
