Yeah, I feel like in some ways we are replacing bandaids with more bandaids. The TEs aren't great, the line is worse, our running backs are below average, I don't know how they would produce with a better line. We have great receivers and a really good brain behind center. You can really tell where the bosses spent their time. The defense has few, if any holes in it. I'm not expecting to have a number 1 offense and defense, but I would be really happy with a number 1 D and a mid range offense. Right now the offense is almost bottom of the barrel.
Yep. I think they need to bring up Bibbs. What do we have to lose. He might lite a spark.
The Browns have the 32nd defense against the run. If we can't run on them we can't run on anybody.....pistol, shotgun, or under center.
Our problems running come from many areas though, the RBs aren't playing great, the line can't block so the RBs get hit behind the line, defenders know manning isn't much of a deep threat so they stack the line to defend the short passes and crowd the running lanes at the same time. All these things feed off each other. I think if the line can gel more then we have a chance, everything else can improve. If the line can't get it together though this is going to be a long year and another early exit from the playoffs.
Even with a younger , kinda sorta Semi mobile QB it will. That's why Russell Wilson is having such a great year running. He's running for his life behind another piss poor offensive line.....

How do you get a group of 5 or 6 people to block 8 in the box You don't Your QB has to bring them out of 8 in the box and you said it Manning has to prove he can beat you deep. The way I see it The browns are 32nd in Run defense. We are 31st in running offense. Bet their fans are saying the same if we can't stop Denver. IT's a wash a close game I'm predicting an upset Denver will loose by 12

Ugh. My Uncle called me earlier this week and told me my Mom was not doing well. I tried prying details out of him but he was strangely vague and seemed confused. So I drove to Colorado yesterday and when I got here he'd just been released from the hospital. He'd suffered a mild stroke and didn't know it. That explains his behavior. I'm heading to my Moms next this morning to see wtf is going on with her as he really couldn't explain it. It's like an infirmary over here so I'm really glad I came. I seem to be the only one that is fine so far.

I have said a prayer that your parents are fine. Todays med for strokes are a miracle compared to when we were youngsters. If I knew I would have said nothing about a score tomorrow. Just a feeling . The browns are the best pass rush in my mind that the broncos have faced this season after KC. The chefs didn't have film on the new Manning except for that first game so they didn't play Manning not to pass long. The Browns will employ 8 in the box and keep their LB short to stop the short pass. The blitz will come from different backers and sometimes a safety will come. They will force Manning to pass the ball deeper than he will want. Play some zone and blitz . Bring everyone up on the line and drop different backers back force the line to guess who's coming . That's how the Browns win. Sorry but that's how I would play the Manning That has a bad O-line with a young center. Let' us know your mother is fine God is good my friend and our lives are more important than football.

After reading this article it give me some hope with the Broncos O-line. Then again Maybe not . We have played 3 of the top10 defensive lines in the league. we have to play 2 of them again, and two maybe a third in the playoffs. The interesting thing is the better teams have a good pass defense to go with that run defense.

I hope they give Bibbs a shot. I think he's dynamic enough to give this offense a shot in the arm.
Thanks Hop. My Uncle is doing okay and my Mom is showing signs of age. Both are getting up there and sliding downhill a bit. My Mom more than my Uncle. My Dad Passed away when I was13 so he's been out of the picture for awhile. My Uncle should recover from his stroke....I just left him and he's doing okay except for walking. My Mom has gone seriously downhill in a year so I'm trying to figure the best thing for her now. This was a fact finding visit. Now to figure out what to do next. I'll take her and my brother and nephew out to dinner tonight and head back tomorrow to figure this out. Wish me luck on that one.

Sorry to hear about your Mom and Uncle, Utah. My whole life, my parents seemed invincible...They are still in great health in their late 60's, but for the first time I can see the effects of age on them. My mom will probably see 90, but my Dad smoked for 40+ years, so every cough makes me wince.

I seem to be the invincible one to them now. Those are tough shoes to fill as I'm old enough now to feel quite vulnerable. I just have to be there and strong for them. That appears to be my lot in life now as my little brother won't do it.
Enough of that....lets kick the Browns ass tomorrow and get a week off to regroup.

Funny how that works my Dad was the man when I was a young boy. I thought he was the strongest and smartest man to ever walk the earth. Now he has to take his meds every day and I have to call to see if he did. Mom can't remember that she spoke with me the next day. life just go on and time won't stop for any of us. That old man joke won't be forgotten Utah I'll just let it pass for now.

I know I said the Browns will win by 12 . Here are my thoughts on how the Broncos keep them from winning. We must run the ball. Utah is right the Browns are the worst in the league at giving up yardage on the ground at 5 yards per carry. I will be happy to see the Broncos gain 4 yards per today without a running game we will have to hope Manning is on his old game meaning 2 years ago old not his age. Next we have to harass The Browns QB who ever is in. But Most important We have to keep Manning from being harassed McCown is having a good year. He runs the system well. I just feel like he will look like the better QB today I hope not and I hope the Broncos win but I will stay with the Browns win because of 3 turnovers by Manning
Go Broncos make a liar of me please!!!!!!!

I feel that this game will determine our offensive philosophy from here on out. I am concerned that we are going to run effectively using sprinkles of the Kubiak system against this weak Browns team and then think it works. If we do beat up on these little guys using hybrid Kubiaks plays, I think we will be going into the bye heading in the wrong direction. Personally I am hoping for one more game of the same so we can fully commit to the Manning system and put an end to all this silliness. Best case scenario for me is to have Manning in pistol 90% of the time so we can actually work on our real offense this week. I like the Kubiak system but we just don't have the parts for it. This game needs to mark the full retreat into Manning's game and give it one last chance with a #1 D.

You wouldn't guess it by the overall line play, but Mathis has actually had really good performance grades over the last three games and is now the 11th ranked guard in overall performance grade...I'll be keeping an eye on him today.

This does feel like a pivotal game to me...if Manning plays well, it might give the offense the shot in the arm it needs to play with confidence and grit for this brutal stretch of games coming up...if he bombs, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes down with a mysterious "injury" that forces Oz into the driver's seat after the bye. A phantom injury would allow Kubes to see what Oz brings to the table, but keeps the door open for Manning to return if Oz struggles.

'Course, the most likely scenario is that the running game continues to grind out 2-4 yard carries, Manning uses the dink-n-dunk passing attack to get just close enough to kick 13 long-ass field goals (thank god for McManimal), but makes 2-3 head-scratching throws that keep Cleveland in the game till the end. Defense makes the difference, and the hand wringing continues...yay.

That kind of has become the script around here. *
