With a roster spot open what do you think the broncos should do? I'm not going to put stock in the last game and say we don't need anything to help the team ,but It's easy to see that this could be a special team if they play the way they did Sunday night against Green Bay. I would say go with 52 for now unless you make a trade before the deadline. what do we need? Again based on their last performance Not too much but if I were to trade for anyone It would be a trade for the fans who sold their tickets to cheese heads last night.

Not sure I like this trade do we need a TE Won't Davis be taking reps from Green who just had his best day as a Bronco. I'm not so sure this was a good move. Davis for half a year.

I think it's a sign that we will be using more tight ends sets. Yes the TEs just had their best game of the year but they could always use some competition. Also, the price wasn't too bad. A couple of 6th rounders are nothing. Especially where we tend to pick.

Davis can still catch the ball and and it gives us one more target for Manning. A couple of 6 rounders is cheap.

The browns and Broncos could be talking trade for Joe Thomas
http://www.milehighreport.com/2015/11/2 ... cos-browns

I think the browns want a 1st rounder for him that would be a red flag to me

That was a steal! I am pumped to see Davis in orange. Our TEs were going in the right direction but none of them could do everything. Davis can block and run routes. He is going to shine in this offense. The rich just keep getting richer..

I love my Broncos and in John I trust, but I don't get the trade for Davis. In my opinion his best days are gone and what's left is damaged goods and uninspired. If a fire is lit under him by a new venue, he might be a slight upgrade over Daniels. This offense is just now rediscovering the importance of the position in the passing game, and in my opinion Peyton still hasn't utilized the talent of Virgil Green. He was finally targeted a bit vs the Packers and good things came out of it. I don't think Davis is an upgrade over Green, and sorry, but frankly. I don't get it.

After reading Ute, Springs, and SID's points, I guess I get it a little bit. Depth is a great thing, and the two sixth rounders don't hurt us. Davis could help us in a SB run this year. I don't see him as a member here next year though. His price tag is too high, and we have a bunch of people to sign. Don't forget, Heuerman will be back next year, and he is a kid who's future with the team, we are very excited about

I think Davis is a one year rental. He's 31 but this year he helps in a position we've been week at all year except for yesterday. Worth the garbage time picks even if he doesn't pan out but I think he will.

Davis hasn't earned good marks the last two years, but he was a top-tier blocker and receiver up to 2013. I don't mind this move at all...it's unlikely to cost us any contributors, and could give Manning the red-zone target he sorely needs.

I agree that it would be a shame if the Davis trade hurt Green's growing role in the passing game. I figured Davis was brought in to replace Daniels as the pass-catching TE, which I like.

If one of the TE's gets hurt, everyone here will love having Davis. When I heard the speculation that he was available, I was hoping we might snag him. I doubt anyone's feelings get hurt. Competition is always good. Just my two cents.

Daniels has been a flop so far at receiving and blocking. My guess is Davis will replace him.

Even though Davis will probably depart in free agency next year we would probably get a compensatory pick from him leaving making the trade a wash. Basically a no risk - all reward trade.

Other than Green I don't see any of our TEs being on the team next year, including newly signed Davis. heuerman, as already said, is the future. Once he returns from injury he will need a spot on the team. Davis will be expensive to resign, esp if Manning and the Broncos O can revitalize his career. Like Utah said, he a no risk, no cost, one year rental. Nothing wrong with that. he will help and it will cost us next to nothing.

Wow, so it sounds like Denver is dangling our 2016 1st rounder for Joe Thomas. Considering how often Clady has been hurt (as well as declining play last year), I think it might be a steep price worth paying. Now that Mathis is finally playing well (8th highest grade and rising) Denver would have the best left-side OLine in the league. Thomas would be under contract for this and the next three years, but could be cut for nothing if he dropped off a cliff. Sambrilo and Schofield could compete for the RT position next year.
Regardless of how good he looked Sunday, it's hard to trust Manning with a huge role come Jan-Feb. If we want to build that championship formula, Denver HAS to develop a consistent run game to pair with the defense. Mortgaging our future drafts could blow-up in our faces, but I'm willing to take on the risk for one more shot at glory.

Joe Thomas is better than anyone we could draft with the 32nd pick next year. Hope it happens

Cleveland wanted Shaq and a first rounder earlier this year for Thomas. Some are saying maybe Shaq and a 5th will be ok...I'm not one of those

I don't want to trade anyone to get him but since we have to cut someone to make room anyways we may as well get some value. I don't think Shaq should be the one to go though.

I have to agree with Icky I think it's a bad trade because of Green. Mac You're also right Davises best days are behind him. I just hope his attitude is left in SF. He was calling out his QB. and I still remember the words of his old coach . Can't coach him can't do it. He does have more speed than the TE's we have that may help in the red zone but I still believe Manning was the problem. The resistance of the changing offense refusing to let his offense go altogether. Maybe now he can see that the team can win without him being the man they lean on we can become the best team in the league. The TE's went 6 for 105 this past game Green was 3 for 66 by himself. Need to use him more not less

That's why John didn't make the deal Shaq is the starter next season if Ware retires Noway we trade him for a LT when we get 2 back after the season is over. and the fact Harris is doing a good job now

I never said Manning would be back next season, just that Davis' career may be revitalized and he is a one year rental. I don't expect Manning to play next year.
