Used to be (in the Olde Switzerland), this place was hopping throughout the night. I remember times, a couple of years back, I'd get up at 2 or 3 in the a.m., and couldn't sleep. I'd pop into this place and kicks (who chooses not to be here anymore), Reecey, Utah (who just recently stopped posting here), PAO--well, never mind who, the important thing is that the convos were always on, and always a riot. I keep saying things will start moving as the season progresses, and I hope I'm right.
As it stands now, we have a right cozy little family and I'm enjoying the people a lot. I think we get to know each other better like this. Well, actually, I think you are the only newbie, though the rest of us have been together, I think (going on) 3 years or so, so we know each other pretty well. So where I am going here (using way, way more words than are necessary) is that for newbies like you, it must be easier to get to know the family here this way then when you have to jump into a big crowd and figure out who's who... I STILL don't think I've said what I am trying to say, (or have I). :!: :?: :ugeek: :?: :!: :!:

I think you did a fine job. In my occupation and my other hobbies I have to jump in to situations with new people all the time . The nice thing is everyone seems to be here for the same reason, to have fun with their football. GO DOLPHINS!!!!!!

ck, would you mind if I invite some unfamiliar people? I have several new friends at Fox that I think would be a good fit here.

Of course, Em! That's how the Olde Switzerland got started--no reason why we shouldn't bring new blood in to the New Switzerland. Remember? Everyone invited people from the areas in which they blogged--pretty much all from Faux back then. I trust your instincts completely!

That might be part of our problem. For all of its faults, Fox was where we all met. In a way, we have cut ourselves off from our source. I don't like to blog there because of all the BS, but there are a lot of football fans there. If I were on Facebook I would try to recruit people there. I like to invite funny people, because they are usually smart and they can have fun without all the invective.

I totally agree with you Emeritus. Fun and funny people were the basic staple of the Olde Switzerland. Although, Facebook is not a sports forum, people seem to talk a lot about football there. I personally have tried recruiting Facebook football talkers, and although everyone says they are coming, as you can see, that ain't necessarily so. In fact, we have what, 49 people signed up, and how many of us post regularly? Although, I must say, those of us who do post regularly, DO post regularly, and although in pure #s, my posts clearly show that it is I who is here more often than anyone else, but after all, it's my blog... Then again, there's Ms Bags, whose heart is here a huge percentage of the time, but because of her job and other real-life scenarios, her # of posts is rather low. I call that "The Bags Factor," meaning there are many who would rather be here blogging with us, but real life gets in their way. I strongly believe, however, that the "WTF" issue is the thing that most seriously affects the number Swiss Family members who are not here. That is WHERE THE F@#K is everyone now that football season is here  . Clearly, if we could shut Faux, Facebook and isports down completely, the number of Swiss family bloggers would take a large leap in growth    ...

If they were shut down, how would people learn about Switzerland? I agree that those who know the address here would show up a lot more often, but how would others find us?

PAO (and his wonderful pancake breakfasts) seem to be gone, but you're doing a damn good job replacing him, Em. My mouth actually watered with the banana crepes and the jambalaya. Yummy, yum yum!!! :D

Made me so hungry that I went downstairs and heated leftovers and stuffed myself. One-and one-half sausages, smothered with my special spaghetti sauce and then two yogurts for dessert. I don't even want to hear the word "food" any more tonight...

Oops! Sorry about that, ck. The sausages and special spaghetti sauce sounds good. Fortunately I never keep leftovers in the house, or I'd be pigging out right now. Nothing for me until breakfast.

We have 3 of our children (aged 30, 28 and 25) staying with us right now. It's rare to have leftovers, but we do (thank goodness) today. Or should I say "did?"

OMG, you're killin' me here, Em! Those cinnamon rolls are amazing. I have been dying for one of those things forever. I see them at the Cinnabon stores in the airports and malls, and I always manage to walk away. I can't remember where, but some years back I read that cinnamon rolls are THE MOST fattening thing you can eat--like thousands of calories. Last year, waiting for my plane to Indy, I had to sit down to take a long phone call and I was sitting right across from one of those stores. I thought, "That's it. When I finish this call, I'm going to finally do it." My willpower had completely abandoned me. When the phone call (finally!) ended, my flight was boarding and I had to run to the gate! That's my sad story, and I'm sticking to it...
