I'm living in the moment. I'm enjoying my Texans being in first place without worrying about their staying there. No matter what happens, I have this whole week to celebrate.

Oh how I know that feeling so well..........

Not meaning to be a connoisseur of the obvious, l6; but you and I are somewhat kindred spirits. Neither of us have had much success since our premier coaches, and the premier QBs they brought to us went off into the setting sunset... We sure did have some glory years back then, though, didn't we? Were you too young to have been into pro football back then? I know you are considerably younger than I, but I believe you're old enough to remember the Montana/Marino good times, yes?

CK, I'm 46 so yes I remember your undefeated season well...I cherished my Csonka jersey back in the day, I also had a John Brody Jersey too. I went to my first 49er game in '71 with my Dad. I remember being in awe walking into "The Stick"...So yes I have very rich memories of our glory years.

GOOD MORNING, SWITZERLAND! (And a special good morning hug to my kindred spirit. ;)

16: The SB in Danny's rookie year (his first and last, but who would have believed that!)--watching Montana/Marino at work--was such a joy. It was almost like the passing of the sword, with Danny coming in and Montana in the autumn of his years. Years later, I was lucky enough to witness Favre in his early years playing against Danny in his last. Same feeling. You just knew you were witnessing something great. There hasn't been a QB since that has same enchantment for me.

Please, please, please don't mention Brady, Romo, Ruthlessburger or any other QBs to me. I'm merely talking about for ME. I'm sure there are those of you out there that have favorites since the Montana and Marino years--it's just my own, very personal comfort level. I know many of you can't stand Favre anymore, but I have my own feelings about his past three or four years as well. Up until this year, his joy for the game gave me a great deal of pleasure as well.

At any rate, I'll be running around today--visiting here when I'm able, and surely, tonight I'll be around till I go sleepy. :)

You mean the Vikes wanted him, even though he didn't even catch ONE pass Monday night? Or is that perhaps why he didn't make a catch?

CK, think positive here ... Moss goes to the Vikings and catches passes from your favorite QB and they are playing the JETS your least favorite team!? How about a GO VIKINGS?!

[color=#008080]BTW, 16... Had Joe Robbie not gotten too tight with the money, that team might have had many, many more Super Bowl wins. Czonka, Kiick and Warfield left for the WFL, and that is why the big wins slowed. Had Robbie not called their "bluffs," (which were not bluffs after all) by refusing to raise their salaries, teams would still be trying to beat the records set by the Dolphins in the early '70s!

Your Czonka jersey would be worth a real hunk of change today, 16!

Try--Can you hear me smiling all the way out there in Cally? Anyone who helps any team beat the Jets makes me extremely happy. Thing is--WHICH Moss is going to the Vikes? The productive, unstoppable Moss, or the sullen, selfish, p.o.s. Moss???/color]

JEEZ! I just lost a huge post by trying to 'edit' it after 'reviewing' it. The damned thing just took off in a flash, and it's nowhere to be found, and I don't even remember all the stuff I said!

I know I said something to 16 regarding that Fins' team in the '70s. I believe I mentioned the fact that Joe Robbie did not come up with the $$$ Warfield, Kiick and Zonk requested, and by calling their 'bluffs' (which, in fact, were NOT bluffs at all) he lost them to the WFL. Teams today would still be trying to break the records set by that team had those players stayed!

Ohm and to Try: you know I love anyone who can beat the Jets, any time. Thing is--WHICH Moss went to the Vikes? The amazing, unstoppable Moss, or the sullen, "it's all about ME" Moss? I guess that remains to be seen!

Moss is still a superior receiver. He really hasn't been that much of a problem player either - nothing like T.O. I'm sure that all of the Vikings fans will be thrilled to have him back. There have been some crazy trades this year, the craziest being the Eagles trading Donovan McNabb to a team in their own division. Count me as another who roots for anybody against the Jets.

I was talking with STC this morning about this Moss trade and I think its a huge mistake. Yes he hasn't made many catches this year but he has been drawing a lot of double teams. You can't put a price on having two opposing players covering one guy. With that said the Patriots might win the Superbowl now because I put a curse on Moss about 5 years ago that he would never win a SB. Just watch. He won't.

McNabb was an incredibly dim trade. I do not mind losing Moss for a few reasons. He is locker room poison, complains about everything, he truly believes he is the best player ever, he only plays when he feels like it, he has dropped some pretty questionable passes and he hardly ever smiles.

kicks yeppers I understand the double coverage, but they are already doing that to Welker so it's a give and take. The Pat's have three amazing and Big Big Big Tight ends Hernadez, Gronkowski and Crumpler who can all block and are very fast with great hands. We still have at Wide Receiver Welker, Tate, Slater, Edlemen and Darnell Jenkins (Practice Squad who was excellent pre-season)Also, Taylor Price who has an ankle issue and might not play. To back up these eight potential receivers we have Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis, Danny Woodhead and Sammy Morris who all play at Running Back/Fullback/Wide Receiver wherever they are needed. A week to adjust post-Moss for the team and a big barrel of question marks for the opposition seeing the Pat's line up with out Randy.

Ohh! and the rumor is we are going for Vincent Jackson who is having contract problems with the Chargers. He is pretty much a younger Randy tall fast etc etc etc, but the rumors are also that the Chargers might not trade within the AFC everything depends on the draft picks offered up and the Pats will more than likely cast off a few in the early rounds as they like late round players.

Moss is one of those players who has to be accounted for on every play. That alone makes him an asset. I still don't understand the trade, unless the Patriots just want to get younger.

He sure does... no team leaves him uncovered if not double or triple covered. But there are so many targets out on the field for Brady it will open up the playbooks a bit more. Last year every play was so obvious Moss or Welker with no big run game and it didn't get us very far. Our biggest problem is defense, which is deliriously thin at many positions. They are young and will shape up a bit as the season progresses, but until Monday night's game they were playing poorly. Considering the defense we also might have traded off Moss to make a little move to bring back our Pro Bowl defender Logan Mankins who is in a contract dispute...

He thinks he is worth fifty million over the next five years the Pats offered him around 16 mill and he didn't sign on time so they cut the offer to about eight million... Shruggs shoulders who knows... It was a big shock to me I can only speculate :)

I can remember when Randy Moss came into the NFL with a bad reputation out of college. His new mentor was Cris Carter, who was once known as a problem player himself. They became one of the greatest receiving duo in football history. When Cris retired and Randy left the Vikings, Randy became known as a troublemaker.

I don't know how much faith that I put in such reports, but I read that the sticking point was that Moss wanted a five-year contract and the Patriots only offered him a one-year extension.

No matter the amount of catches Moss has already, he's still a monster to try and cover and almost always gets double coverage. That in itself is a huge advantage for the other receivers. Now I personally like Welker even more than Moss, (your welcome from our idiotic staff) but he's still going to be a weapon for a while. I don't think any deal is going to get done for Vincent Jackson this season, he's pretty much backed himself into a position (with his agents help) that it will be hard for any kind of a deal to be done. I would not expect them to pull an Eagles move too and trade such a high profile weapon in their division. (hows that working out Eagles with your QB situation now)

That is pretty close to what I heard as well. He is not a young receiver and has quite a few reoccurring injuries and even a four year contact sounded a bit long to me. I hope I do not sounding to critical of Randy he gained much respect from his years in New England. But, he made a fatal Patriot no-no when he spoke to the press about feeling unappreciated. The writing was on the wall from that day forward. Oh~ and also the fact that the whole (Meter Maid Story) surfaced the week of the Super Bowl that didn't help his case too much either.

Hi Try~ Guess we were both replying about the same time :)

He is a beast to cover 100% agree. Welker is amazing one of the toughest football players I have ever watched. (Thank you for him) I understand the Jackson unlikeliness for this year, but you know how little value the Pats place on early round draft picks so it could happen. Supposedly they want a second and third rounder for him. We have pairs in rounds one through four and not too many holes to fill. Especially considering who knows if there will even be football next year :(

It will be interesting to see how a superannuated quarterback and a superannuated wide receiver perform together. The Vikings need to supply their team with Geritol.

Better them than the Hawks I guess. For awhile under Holmgren/Mora I thought we were becoming the Old Folks Home of the NFL. Ick.

HA! LMAO! Em~ you got me! I had to look up superannuated in the dictionary. The second I read about the trade I turned on SportsCenter and what is the first thing I hear? Because of the Moss trade you have to imagine Favre will be staying for a few more years. (Sorry CK I know you adore the Favre) But the retirement thing every year is getting old too much Drama~

I heard that part of the trade details have been matching purple Segways
